Area schools are buzzing with activity as staff and administrators prepare for the start of the new school year.
Traditional open house programs are planned for Becker High School and the Middle and Primary schools, while the Primary and Intermediate schools will again host Assessment/Conference days during the first week of school.
The schedule for school open houses is as follows:
Clearview Elementary School: Tues., Aug. 27, 4:30-6 p.m. Students and parents will have the opportunity to visit with teachers and staff during the program, as well as setting up lunch accounts, bus transportation and extra-curricular activities for the year. Students will also be able to locate their all-important new lockers, and practice with the combination locks during the program.
Becker High School: Weds., Aug. 28, 5-7 p.m. A 9th grade student/parent meeting will be held in the auditorium beginning at 6:30 p.m. BHS will continue the practice of having freshmen only report for the first day of school Tues., Sept. 3, with grades 10-12 reporting Weds., Sept. 4 to begin their school year.
Becker Middle School: Weds., Aug. 28, 4-6 p.m. A 7th Grade parent presentation will take place from 4:45-5:15 p.m. during the open house. Students in 6th through 8th grades will report for classes on Tue., Sept. 3.
Becker Primary School: Thurs., Aug. 29, 4-7 p.m. The Becker Primary School will be hosting a school readiness open house, which will help familiarize students and parents with school locations and operations.
Elementary Assessment/ Conference Days
Becker Primary and Intermediate Schools: Assessment/Conference days will be held Tues., Sept. 3 and Weds., Sept. 4 at both schools. Parents of students in grades K-5 can schedule an appointment that will last from 90 minutes to two hours, and will include a video on “what to expect” in the coming school year, and teachers will meet with students and parents to gather assessment information to help meet the needs of individual students.
The program includes time to met teachers and bring in school supplies, ask questions and share concerns, complete reading and other assessments, have a school picture taken, fill out forms for emergency contacts, lunch accounts, etc., tour the buildings, meet staff members, and learn about the coming year in school.
Beginning this past Monday, parents could sign up form conference time on the school district Skyward access, which also contains a tutorial section. For help with the Skyward access program, contact Joni Starry at firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact the respective school offices.
